Brunhofer & Balise was founded in 1998 by Susan Brunhofer and David Balise. Our primary focus is on serving non-profit organizations, but we also offer a complete range of accounting and tax services for businesses and individuals.

Our Staff
Susan Brunhofer, MBA, CPA
Susan Brunhofer is Senior Partner of Brunhofer & Balise, LLP and has over 25 years of experience in public accounting, working with both business and not-for-profit engagements. In addition, she has experience as a CFO in small and medium size not-for-profit and government entities, and has a broad understanding of the operational challenges they face. Susan is the lead reviewer of the financial statements and work papers for most audit, review and compilation engagements for the firm, and is responsible for maintaining the quality control standards of the AICPA.
Susan enjoys the comradery of working with the firm team. She is also a graduate of a culinary school in Denver, and enjoys spending time with family, camping and hiking. Susan holds CPA licenses in Pennsylvania and Colorado.
David Balise, CPA
David Balise is Managing Partner of Brunhofer & Balise, LLP, and has over 20 years of public accounting experience. He has broad knowledge of non-profit accounting, auditing, and taxes, including “Single Audits” in accordance with the Uniform Guidance, and audits according to Government Auditing Standards (“yellow book”). He is also the engagement partner for various business audits and reviews, and has extensive experience preparing consolidating audits and tax returns for affiliated companies. David is a recipient of the Elijah Watt Sells award from the AICPA, for outstanding performance on the CPA exam.
In addition to auditing and tax experience, David assists many clients with budgeting and cash flow management, and other consulting services. He enjoys yoga, karate, biking, and hiking. He holds CPA licenses in New York, New Jersey, and Washington DC.
Ping Yap, CPA
Ping Yap is an Audit Manager at Brunhofer & Balise, LLP with over 15 years of experience in public accounting. Ping primarily performs audits but also performs reviews and compilations and provides consulting and bookkeeping services for clients.
Ping’s responsibilities include planning, supervising, assessing risks, and reviewing internal control systems to identify potential weaknesses or deficiencies. He performs Single Audits and Yellow Book audits for educational institutions and other NPOs. Ping also works with clients in commercial industries including hospitality, news media, security services, performing arts venues, and others. Ping enjoys listening to heavy metallic rock and roll music, and working out in the gym. He holds CPA licenses in New Jersey, New York and California.
Julie Balise
Julie prides herself on fostering strong client partnerships through good communication and attention to detail, and takes an analytical and practical approach to solving problems. In her spare time Julie is a volunteer karate instructor, and enjoys writing and design.
